ABOUT:
Levi Christiansen is a photographer based in Tucson, Arizona. His work engages with themes of memory, place, and the passage of time, often focusing on the subtleties of routine and ritual in American subcultures. His recent project, Latchkey, examines the act of retracing childhood steps through a neighborhood that echoes the past yet was never his own, exploring how familiarity can exist outside of direct experience and an ongoing black and white photography project documenting the behind-the-scenes world of regional rodeos in southern Tucson.
Rooted in a post-documentary approach, Levi’s work emerges from personal engagement with the real world while embracing a subjective, lyrical style of storytelling. His images maintain a connection to documentary photography but resist the literal, journalistic aesthetic, instead favoring atmosphere, mood, and the emotional weight of people and place.
